Urbane Künste Ruhr
Urbane Künste Ruhr is developing artistic productions in the urban sphere of the Ruhr cultural metropolis in conjunction with artists, networks, and cultural institutions. New worlds of creativity in the urban sphere, as well as new possibilities for the participation of the general public are crated here. Urban structures – in terms of their construction or social and economic impact – are regarded, queried, investigated, and interpreted from various artistic perspectives. The results of the work offer unique opportunities to try out new instruments of change in the urban sphere.
This and many other projects by Urbane Künste Ruhr tie in with experiences from IBA Emscheropark and the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010, and help ensure their sustainability.
Urbane Künste Ruhr furthermore encourages discourse formats, which on the one hand will allow critical insights into their own work for a wide audience, and will on the other hand trigger new academic and artistic discussion about the urban sphere.
Katja Aßmann, Artistic Director at Urbane Künste Ruhr, focusses her curatory work on art productions beyond the borders of art discipline and institution, which demonstrate relevance in terms of an everyday context.
