Additional too many internationally renowned artists like Roman Signer, Janet Cardiff, Mark Dion and Lucy + Jorge Orta, Emscherkunst offers a stage for the up-and-coming artist generation as well. Headed by Professor Ferdinand Ulrich, students at the Kunstakademie Münster are developing many art projects for the Dortmunder Unionviertel along the densely populated Rheinische Straße.

On Monday, the 23rd of November 2015, the Emscherkunst 2016’s concept and artistic drafts were presented at the Dortmunder U. The exhibition is taking place along the riverbanks of the Emscher for the now third time from the 4th of July to the 18th of September.

    The composite work Monument for a Forgotten Future – also known as the ‘singing mountain’ – that was built for the Emscherkunst 2010 on the so-called ‘Wilde Insel’ in Gelsenkirchen, close to the locks of the Rhine-Herne-Canal, bows out for its winter break.

About half of the artworks from 2010 remain permanently in the landscape. The EMSCHERKUNST.2013 added two more works.
