The Rhine-Herne-Canal crosses the Emscher in Castrop-Rauxel. In the summer of 2016, the living bridge sculpture Warten auf den Fluss (Waiting for the River) by the Dutch group of artists Observatorium will move to the waterway crossing. In this area, the Emscher will not be free of waste water until 2018. Here Observatorium wants to ‘wait’ for the new Emscher together with the visitors – guests can stay overnight in the sculpture’s pavilions and discover together what a long-awaited river promises.
